Last night I was filling out a scholarship application and it got me to thinking about what actually motivates me. Each of us has something that motivates us whether it be a significant other, a goal, or even a life long dream. These motivations help us get through the everyday grind. They help us realize the bigger picture in the long run.
When I was twelve I never realized how much my life was going to change once I sprained my left wrist. My life has been blessed from the people who have been put in it, the challenges I have had to face, and the accomplishments I have made. I say that I'm blessed from my challenges because they have helped me learn about who I am this also includes getting RSD. If someone where to ask me if I could take it all back, I honestly don't know if I would.
About six months after getting RSD my Uncle got very sick and passed away. From watching the nurses taking care of him in the hospital came my desire to become a nurse. From my continuous treatments and visits to my PM's office my desire to become a nurse has grown simply from being with my Uncle the last weeks of his life. My Uncle was always supportive of me and stepped in as a substitute Grandfather he had passed away before I was born. It saddens me to know he isn't here to see me in college. I have two motivations; my Uncle and my RSD, both have helped me realize how blessed I am to be in college and be succeeding.
I am an Undergraduate Student who has Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and embraces the Vegan lifestyle. Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy is a Chronic Neurological Condition that I hope and pray there will be a cure to one day. Until then I live my life to the fullest, embrassing the life the Good Lord has given me.

This Is The Life
Im sorry I havent posted in a little while. I have been increadibly busy with school work, no one ever said being a Undergraduate Nursing Major was easy but is rewarding. Ive taken time out of this week to enjoy the nice weather that was here for what seemed like a brief moment.
I attend a Small Private Catholic College in Northeast Ohio. I love it here because if you have a question for one of your Professors, you are able to meet with them after class or during office hours due to their open door policy. I work for a Professor for my work-study and she understands when I cant come due to not feeling well or if I have a test scheduled. I am mentioning this because when I was on Spring Break my friend Mike went to Nationals for Racewalking. He was #2 in Ohio behind a kid who went to a college in Southern Ohio. Well Mike went to Nationals and with 2 laps left to go in the race, he paced the kid who was #1. Mike became the National Champion of Racewalking. I know many of you dont know what it is so I will post the video of the Nationals Race. The same week our Wrestling team went to Nationals and won. So NDC a small Catholic College has two, National Champions, one is a team and one is an individual. Being a former High School swimmer I know all these athletes (especially Mike) has put a lot of time and effort into getting where they are, congratulations NDC!
I am looking forward to the days were it says warmer longer. I know that everyone is going to enjoy being able to get outside once again even if it is to study or read a good book.
Sending Healing Thoughts!

My Everyday Life
This first week back has been busier that I have expected. It seems that my body is able to endure more than I believe it is capable of. I already miss spring break and the comforts of being able to access whole plant foods at every meal. I do believe the way I am eating is helping my body keep up with what I am needing to do.
I have been blessed with Professors who care about me and want to see me succeed as a nurse. They are especially tough though which helps demonstrate how much they want us (the students) to succeed. They want to make sure that when we are certified that they wouldn't mind us being their nurse. This semester particularly I have been using my Nursing skills, thanks to A&P. I have been able to think more like a nurse and Im so excited about that.
I am looking forward to this weekend when I can get a little more rest than I have this week. Being a nursing major isn't easy especially when RSD is thrown into the mix. Oddly I am enjoying the experience.

The Human Body

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me". Erma Bombeck
The quote right above by Erma Bombeck is one of my favorites. I have always believed that God has given each of us a Talent and we are suppose to embrace that talent for the good of others.
I have wanted to be a Nurse since I was 13 yrs old. It started when my Uncle was in the ICU at the VA Hospital in West Virginia. He had complications from two major diseases. The nurses who took care of him in the ICU were absolutely amazing. You could just tell from their domineer that they loved their job. Since my Uncle was so sick they let us stay in the ICU as long as we wanted to. One nurse in particular helped my family. We were scared and exhausted. This nurse had found out that I was spending my 13th Birthday in the hospital with my Uncle and she went to the gift shop and got me a card and Crispy Cream Donuts. She didn't need to do that but had went out of her way.
Being a nursing major, I have to learn how the Human Body works. It has helped me understand why nutrition is so important to maintain health, especially if someone has an illness or has had surgery. It has also helped me understand what is going on with my RSD. When I learned about the nervous system it made since in some people that the pain signal could keep on going if a nerve is damaged or hit the right way.
I'm looking forward to the day when I can help the patient and the patients family too like my Uncle's nurse helped my family.
